A problem solver in software & hardware.

I'm a full stack software engineer based in Nairobi, with a heavy focus on backend development and system design. I hold a BSc. in Control and Instrumentation from JKUAT and I'm a certified software engineer through the ALX programme.

I focus on the solution and whether it will last. My work spans web applications, distributed systems, IoT and robotics, with a lot of time spent on Linux, multi-protocol communication platforms and backend services in Go, Node.js and Python.

I want to keep learning as much as I can and put it to work on real problems.

  • Lead design and development of CHAJI's Charging Station Management System (CSMS), Battery Intelligence and Fleet Management systems in Go.
  • Build high-throughput data ingesters over WebSocket and MQTT.
  • Design wallet-based billing on the Daraja (M-Pesa) API, and SDKs for USSD, SMS and Daraja used across our APIs.
  • Develop a multi-channel notifications and alerts system.
  • Own system design decisions and optimise based on observability metrics.
  • Maintain a private fork of the open-source ocpp-go package, extending it with additional functionality.
  • Build CI/CD pipelines, write unit tests and work with hardware and product teams on end-to-end solutions.

Semi-Autonomous Warehouse Robot

A wheeled robot with a four-joint manipulator arm for warehouse operations and environmental monitoring, built in a team of three. ESP32 firmware drives the base and arm, reads sensors and detects bumps and free-falls from an IMU, streaming telemetry over MQTT to a Go (Fiber) web app backed by PostgreSQL and ScyllaDB.
